About
Katie Dawson is a Clinical Psychologist with over 15 years experience. She completed her undergraduate training with first class honours at Macquarie University and went on to complete a Masters/PhD at the University of NSW.
Katie is particularly passionate about supporting adults and children affected by trauma and loss, and specialises in the treatment of posttraumatic stress disorder and prolonged grief. She has worked for many years at the Traumatic Stress Clinic in Sydney and consults with international organisations, such as the World Health Organization, War Child and UNHCR, to develop and test psychological treatments for populations affected by trauma and loss. She has been involved in many research trials and published extensively in the field.
Katie also provides treatment for people affected by depression, anxiety and stress, using evidence-based treatments such as Cognitive Behaviour Therapy, Schema Therapy and Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy. She works with adults, adolescents, children and families.
She is compassionate and warm and seeks to create a space for people to feel safe to share their difficulties, whilst appreciating the challenging nature of engaging in therapy.
